Victory in the Mind – Part 3

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” – Romans 12:2 (NIV)

To progress in life, you have to think progressive thoughts. To achieve this, something new must replace the old. What is the new that must replace the old? It is the renewing of your mind. How do you renew your mind? The changed life you decide to live requires faith in God. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

From the Bible, two things we know about faith are:

  1. It is impossible to please God without it (Hebrews 11:6)
  2. In the words of Jesus, “According to your faith let it be done to you” (Matthew 9:29 – NIV)

Therefore, it is knowledge (the Word of God) that builds faith. As you study the Word of God, you’ll soon realise that it is not only the source of faith but of Salvation (Romans 1:16), Truth (John 17:17), freedom (John 8:31-32), freedom from error (Matthew 22:29), spiritual food (Matthew 4:4), growth (1 Peter 2:2), victory over temptation (Psalm 119:11), happiness and blessedness (Proverbs 8:34), purity (holiness) (Psalm 119:9), self-diagnosis (spiritual check-up) (Hebrews 4:12), guidance (Psalm 119:105), comfort (Romans 15:4), answered prayer (John 15:7), spiritual victory (Ephesians 6:17), healing (Proverbs 4:22), assurance (1 John 5:13), joy (Psalm 19:8), preparation for good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17), and warning (1 Corinthians 10:11).

In Genesis 11 the people thought to themselves that it is possible to build a tower to heaven. In their minds, they saw this tower so they started building. But God stopped them because the tower became an idol for them. This account, however, still illustrates the power of our thoughts and words.

Fill your mind with the Word of God and experience changes in negative circumstances surrounding you today.

Remember:  Victory comes in a package called “OBEDIENCE”.
